Supper
Thanks very much to the many people who helped to make our Pancake
Supper a successful event.
Not only did we raise a fair bit of money for the Canadian Foodgrains
Bank, but we also had an enjoyable evening of community fellowship.
Thanks to Settlers Supplies donating the sausage and Ed Hunter
donating the maple syrup, we were able to contribute 100% of the
donations to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Also, we benefited from an
advertisement for community pancake suppers in the Flamborough Review,
generously sponsored by Brown Lawyers in Waterdown. The $635 we raised
for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank becomes $2,540 with the 4:1 matching
provided by the Government of Canada. This money will provide food to
those who are in danger of starving, and help improve agriculture
around the world.
2019 - Thanks for all the donations brought to the church for the
Flamborough Food Bank.
December 2019 - We collected items for Secret Santa (gifts purchased
for a family in need through the Flamborough Food Bank), mittens from
the Mitten Tree, and White Gifts. As usual, there was a great response
and large quantities were donated.

Make a difference in the lives of young
parents in our community by taking a Baby Bottle from Mother's Day
until Father's Day, and filling it with change OR you can write a
cheque and insert it into the baby bottle. This simple act makes a
lasting impact in the lives of women and babies by giving them an
opportunity to learn, to grow and to choose life. It may seem small,
but the impact is huge. Thank you and may God bless you in your
support of the most vulnerable in our community. This year we raised
$284.

This year’s event in June raised $91,911.30 for children and youth
programming in Hamilton’s highest priority neighbourhood. Our

GIFT IN KIND DONATIONS NEEDED-The following items are urgently
needed at Wesley Urban Ministries. Kindly leave your donations at
Sheffield United Church, near the food donation box, and we will
deliver them on April 10/16. Hygiene items- examples- deodorant,
razors, gently used towels and facecloths, socks, soap, toothbrushes,
toothpaste, feminine hygiene items. Knitting needles, yarn, crochet
needles and thread Nut free snacks- such as individual sized apple
sauce, fruit bars, granola bars, fruit cups and crackers. Paperback
books and magazines (here is a great way to clear out those pocket
books and magazines you have read) pass them on for someone else to
enjoy!! Thanks in advance for your consideration of the above.
Serving A Meal at the Wesley Centre
The Rockton/Sheffield Pastoral Charge "Serve a Meal at Wesley
Urban Ministries" took place on Sunday April 10, 2016, and was a great
success.The food that you prepared was great and because of the
smaller number of clients who came for dinner (145) we had some to
leave at the centre for the next few days.

Irish Supper at Sheffield United Church.
Thanks to everyone who helped make our St. Patrick's Day Irish Supper
a great event through your donations of stew ingredients, soda bread,
desserts, time, and money. With government matching, we raised $2,600
for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, which will mostly go towards feeding
Syrians in refugee camps, and to combat starvation in Africa.
The Irish Supper was also a fun community gathering.

Clothing Drive for the Syrian Refugees
Wesley Urban Ministries are taking a lead role in settling these new
Canadians in Hamilton, and they are working with the Salvation Army to
provide clothing. Our clothing donations will be made available to the
Syrian Refugees free of charge in Salvation Army Stores in Hamilton.
Sheffield United Church will be collecting your clothing donations on
the following dates:
-Wednesday January 13 from 1:00-3:30pm (during Games Day)
-Saturday January 16 from 10am-2pm
-Sunday January 17 from 10:30-12:30
-Sunday January 24 from 10:30-12:30
All clothing in good shape will be appreciated, especially winter
wear.

The Mission and Outreach Committee of Sheffield
United Church is
encouraging our members to support the Cambridge
Pregnancy Resource Centre 2015 Baby Bottle Campaign.
The CPRC is a non-profit organization that supports pregnant
women and their families during unplanned pregnancy, or post
abortion trauma, and gives up-to-date, accurate information to
enable well-informed decisions.
Participants are invited to take home empty baby bottles on
Mother’s Day (May 10th) and fill them with currency, coins, or a
cheque, and then return filled bottles to their church on or
before Father’s Day (June 21st).
Savoury Soup Sundays at Sheffield have come to an
end. Many thanks to all those who prepared a variety of
delicious soups and desserts. A grand total of $1,030.65 was raised and
was allocated by those who enjoyed the soup and fellowship as
follows. U.C. Mission & Service Fund - $162.00, Wesley
Urban Ministries - $99.00, Flamborough Food Bank - $177.75,
Canadian Foodgrains Bank - $277.25, Sheffield U.C. General

Flamborough Food Bank is always in need. A box has been
permanently placed in the lower hall for non-perishable food items
you would like to donate at any time. The food will be taken
