The Rev. Ken MacDonald

I am very pleased to be serving with Sheffield United Church as an Interim Minister until June 2016. The role of an interim minister is to help the church through transition, as well as fulfill all the other ministry tasks. In this transition we will be working together learning how to be a two point pastoral charge with Rockton United with one minister. We work at achieving particular goals with the help of a transition team.

I have had a number of intentional interim ministries – Queensville-Sharon Hope, Annesley Markdale, GlenAyr Scarborough, Westminster Mississauga, and Westdale Hamilton. There have also been supply ministries with interim tasks – Bradford and Appleby Burlington. For three years I was with Toronto Conference staff as minister for personnel and congregational support. My ministry was rounded out with called ministries at Stony Mountain and Pine Falls, Manitoba; and eleven years at Regent Park-Forest Home Orillia.

My family includes a son Cory in Ottawa who has a company servicing air handling equipment in large buildings; a daughter Catherine who is teaching in Chesterfield Inlet Nunavut; and a son Dave who is a welder in Guelph. My wife Margaret is a minister in Brampton, where we make our home. I have two step children and five grandchildren.

My hobbies include training programs such as MBTI, Personality Dimensions, etc.; and curling.

I have a calling to do interim ministry to help congregations through the hard changes and challenges they face. This has included training along the way in various aspects of congregational transitions, and certificates in Adult Education with the U. of Toronto, and Alternative Dispute Resolution with York U.

With prayerful guidance from God and gentle care for God’s people, we can meet the goals set before us.
