PARR, Rev. Dr. Maxwell Jewitt
- Passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington on
Tuesday, July 19, 2016, Rev. Dr. Jewitt Parr at the age of 94. [Date of
Birth - Wednesday, May 17th, 1922]
Beloved husband of Margaret
(nee Clarkson) Parr. Loved Dad of Virginia Swain, Rev. Robert Parr
(Sandy), Mark Parr (Lesia), Christine Parr (late Bruce Dobie), and
Pamela Stoddart (Ross). Cherished Grandpa and Great-Grandpa of many
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Predeceased by his sister Eva Cook and brother Ronald Parr.
Rev
Parr actively served the United Church for over 50 years, ministering
to pastoral charges in Alberta and Ontario. He also served the church
nationally as Secretary of Stewardship Services during the 1970’s.
After his retirement at age 65 he continued to serve the church as a
mission interpreter and as an interim minister. Rev Parr was an active
Rotarian, and in fact was a founding member of two Rotary clubs in
Burlington.
Private Cremation and Interment to take place.
Visitation at Port Nelson United Church, 3132 South Drive (at
Rossmore), Burlington on Wednesday July 27th from 1 p.m. until time of
Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. Reception to follow at the church.
Flowers
gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rev.
Dr. Parr to The Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada
