Gary's Autobiography
After serving almost seventeen years in industry, a
couple of years as a chaplain in a county jail, and
four years operating a Christian Coffee house ministry,
all in Chatham, Ontario, Gary Shuttleworth
“
heard the call” to seek ordination in The United
Church of Canada.
Gary acquired his Bachelor of Arts from the
University of Windsor while serving as Staff Associate
at St.Andrew’s United Church in Chatham (1981 to 1983)
and Student Minister at Auburn Pastoral
Charge in Auburn, Ontario (1983 to 1987). During his
time with Auburn Gary started his theological
studies in Toronto at Emmanuel Theological College.
While studies continued in Toronto Gary and his
family moved from Auburn to Sheffield where he served as
a student minister to the Sheffield Pastoral
Charge (1987 to 1990).
Having received his Masters of Divinity and
ordination in Centralia, Ontario Gary and his family said
farewell to the people in Sheffield and moved north of
Lake Superior to St.Paul’s United in a mining and
lumber town called Manitouwadge, Ontario where he served
as an Ordained Minister (1990 to 1992).
This was a short term as Gary received “A Call” from
St.Paul’s United Church in Tillsonburg, Ontario
where he served as their minister for thirteen years
(1992 to 2005). During that thirteenth year Gary and
his family said fairwell to the people of Tillsonburg
and accepted “A Call” to Dunlop United Church in
Sarnia, Ontario (2005 to date).
